With the increasing concerns about bee-colony collapse, and alarming declines in wild pollinator populations and diversity around the world (due primarily to human activity), it makes sense that a good reference to North American bumble bees would appear on the market.

Here is my review of the latest offering from Princeton University Press, Bumble Bees of North America, An Identification Guide.

By the way, did you know that when I was a kid, I used to pet the bumble bees in our garden?
